Every journey is special in the new Passat and the powerful, economical engines naturally also contribute to this. The engine range starts with a 4-Cylinder 1.6 liter engine which has an output of 75 kw (102bhp) yet very low consumption of only 7.7 litres per 100 km. The FSI with 85 kW (115 bhp) and a 6-speed manual gearbox is equally smooth running but even more powerful. The petrol engine offering the most dynamic driving experience is the 2.0 litre 110 kW (150 bhp) FSI. like the 85 kW engine, it has innovative direct injection technology by which fuel is injected into the combustion chamber under high pressure. The FSI engines of the new Passat therefore have not only very dynamic development of power but also exceptionally ecnomical. The 110 kW engine, for example, consumes just 8.2 litres per 100 km but accelerates from 0 - 100 kph in only 9.4 seconds. for comfort-oriented drivers this engine can ordered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and Tiptronic. Other drivers are therefore often only able to admire the elegant tail end of your new Passat. Whichever of these 4-cylinder engines you decide on in the end, you will always be smiling when you get out of your car. |
